King of Bhutan

                                            Bhutan

Bhutan has had five kings, starting with Ugyen Wangchuck in 1907, followed by Jigme Wangchuck, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and currently, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. 

Ugyen Wangchuck (1907-1926): Founded the monarchy in 1907 and is considered the first King of Bhutan.


Jigme Wangchuck (1926-1952): Succeeded his father, Ugyen Wangchuck, and ruled for a short period. 



Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (1952-1972): Reigned for 20 years, laying the foundation for Bhutan's development and modernization. 



Jigme Singye Wangchuck (1972-2006): Ascended the throne at the young age of 17, becoming the youngest monarch in the world at the time. He oversaw significant modernization and development, including the introduction of Gross National Happiness. 



Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck(2006-present): Became king after his father, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, abdicated the throne. He continues the process of democratization and modernization of Bhutan.
